Air Box Removal
by LSC Tech Board

Your Lincoln was designed by Ford to be a nice ,quiet car. This is bad. If you look inside the passenger side fender well you will see a large, plastic box with a 3 inch opening. This is where the restriction begins. To begin, remove the the air filter housing upper cover. Then unbolt the bottom part of the air filter box. There will be 3 bolts holding the air box in the fender. Loosen these bolts but do not remove them. You must now get under the car for the fun part. Remove the passenger side front tire (the car is on a JACK STAND, right? Good. Never trust a jack) and remove the front bolts which hold the fender skirt in place. You will find about 3 bolts under the turn signal which bolt the fender skirt to the ground effects. The remaining bolts are in the fender well. Loosen the fender skirt halfway around the wheel well. Find a place in the fender skirt where you can leverage the skirt out from inside the fender panel. You will need the get about half of the fender well pulled loose and out of the way. Once the fender skirt is out of the way, you can remove the remaining bolts and let the air box drop. I found that the only way the box would come out was by laying under the bumper and pulling the box through at the very front of the car. It will be tight, but give it a good pull. Now it's out. Toss it as far from your car as possible. Now you must reassemble. The fender skirt will take some wrangling, but make sure it is properly replaced. Put you air filter box back on and you are set for the next mod.
