The Lincoln Mark VII was produced from 1984 until 1992. The 5.0 HO (as we know it today) was available in the '87 model year. Early '87s (made from left over '86 parts) didn't have it, but MKs made from around March of 1987 on had the HO. (Some earlier cars had a type of HO motor, but it was not a roller cam engine, nor were the pistons or heads the same. These were rated at 200 horsepower.) Also, these '87s had the Ford-standard (stand-alone) cruise control - makes them a slightly easier candidate for the MAF conversion. The desirable model is the 88 and up LSC . This model has the venerable Ford 302HO motor. This motor has a roller cam and peak horsepower rating of 225HP and 300 pound feet of torque. The rear end gear ratio is 3.27:1 and depending on the options may have posi-traction. The car has 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes and an airbag suspension. Weight is around 4,000 pounds with driver and gas. The car was available mainly as a 4 speed auto, but there are a few 5 speed turbo diesels in existence. There is still a "Check Turbo" warning light in the information console of the car as a leftover from this model on cars up to 1989. (Check it out, it's there). |
